Next Level Chicken Burger: Mashed Avocado or Guacamole?

•

Who says burgers always need to be beef? While a classic beef patty is tough to beat, this week I wanted to bring some vibrant Tex-Mex flavors to the backyard. The result? A massive, 200-gram crispy chicken burger that packs an absolute punch of flavor.

But before we get into the grill session, let’s address the big question: If you just mash an avocado with some salt, is it just mashed avocado, or does it officially count as guacamole?

Either way, combined with warm melted cheddar, fresh tomato, and a cool dollop of sour cream, this burger disappeared in seconds! Here is exactly how to build it yourself.

The Secret: Svenny’s Tex-Mex Chicken Patty Recipe

Instead of standard store-bought patties, we are making these from scratch using a blend of spices that perfectly complements the rich cheddar and creamy avocado. This recipe makes 4 massive 200-gram burgers.

Ingredients for the Chicken Patties:

  • 800g chicken mince (kipgehakt)
  • 2 eggs (to bind)
  • Breadcrumbs (paneermeel – add by feel until the mince is firm enough to shape)
  • 2.5 to 3 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 2.5 tsp paprika powder
  • 2.5 tsp oregano
  • 1.5 tsp cumin powder (komijnpoeder)
  • 1.5 tsp turmeric (kurkuma)
  • 2.5 tsp onion powder
  • 1.5 tsp chili powder
  • A pinch of salt (to taste)

How to prep: Mix all the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl, adding the breadcrumbs gradually until the mixture holds its shape perfectly. Form them into 4 equal portions of 200 grams each, and get them ready for the grill.

The Build

The secret to a knockout burger is all in the layers. You want a perfect balance of crunch, heat, melt, and freshness in every single bite:

  1. The Bun: A soft, lightly toasted sesame hamburger bun.
  2. The Creamy Base: A generous layer of fresh lettuce topped with a heavy, satisfying layer of perfectly mashed avocado.
  3. The Star: Your 200g seasoned chicken burger, grilled to perfection and topped with a beautifully melted, thick slice of cheddar cheese.
  4. The Fresh Finish: A massive, juicy slice of tomato and a rich dollop of tangy sour cream right underneath the top bun.

The heat from the seasoned chicken and melted cheddar pairs incredibly well with the cool freshness of the sour cream and avocado. It’s hands down one of the best chicken burgers to come out of my kitchen lately.
